2026 Club RulesThe Ground Pounder Club is a ROAR sanctioned club, all racers must have a valid and up to date ROAR membership to participate in our race events. All rules are enforced and we randomly tech' cars to verify they are within the legal racing parameters. All "Featured" race classes go through tech' on race day as well.
Driver Etiquette:
It is expected at our club races that drivers conduct themselves on and off the track with respect for other people’s equipment. Drivers should not intentionally make contact with another driver’s car. If it is done accidentally, the position should be forfeited back to the other driver. We expect our drivers to race cleanly and fairly. Rough driving will not be tolerated.
Batteries:
Depending on the class, any ROAR approved six (6) cell, or four (4) cell, NiCAD, NiMH or 3.7v and 7.4v/7.6v LiPo battery packs, may be used. Batteries must be readily available to all racers. LiPo’s are used in most classes. Only Roar approved, hard cased, LiPo’s will be allowed. Racers are responsible for the proper handling, charging, and usage of their batteries. All Lipo’s must be charged in a “LiPo Sack” and must not exceed 8.45 volts after charging. For more info, and approval lists, please see Roar’s webpage www.roarracing.com
Brushless Motors:
The motor you use in your car must be Roar approved and on the most current Roar list.
NOTE: TRINITY SLOT MACHINE MOTORS ARE NOT ROAR LEGAL and thus not allowed to be used in any car/any class at our club.
Race Classes:
For established on-road and oval classes already approved by the club for our normal race days there must be 3 racers entering that particular race for the club to run that race on race day. If there are approved upon classes on race day that have less than 3 cars sign up, the GP'er board members will make the determination of how to handle the class the day of the race (either allowing them to run or cut the race from that day.)
Race Day Entries:
The board has decided to allow up to four entries per participant on a race day as long as corner marshal responsibilities are being handled. It is up to the club member to arrange for this coverage. Heat and Main Race lengths for each class will be determined by the Race Director the day of each race unless specified below.
CLASS RULES:
Reverse is not allowed in any class and must be disabled on your ESC.
Never drive backwards or stop in the middle of the track for any reason (unless all cars are stopped and you are lining up to race)
No talking on the driver's stand other than to announce if you are passing or to warn other drivers of an obstacle, or accident.
Novice Electric Road Course and Novice Electric Oval Classes:
These classes are for beginning R/C Racers, most everyone will begin their racing career in a Novice Class. No matter what type of car or truck you have, Novice Classes race them all together. Novice Road Course will race the on-road track and Novice Oval will race on the Oval track. After a driver becomes better at controlling his or her vehicle, they will be moved out of this class and into a regular stock class for their car or truck. The Race Director has the final word on who can or cannot move up. Novice Class runs six cell batteries, or LiPo, stock motors or BL 17.5, 21.5 and 25.5 motors. Speed is not the issue in any Novice Class. Learning to drive a car or truck competitively on the racetrack, during a race, is what you should be after. Learning to have good control over your vehicle is a must in racing and a Novice Class is the most forgiving place to learn it. If you have any problems or questions, don't hesitate to ask other racers or the Race Director.
